Where- Mealtime Routines
Where do you and your family sit during meals? On the couch? In a bed? On the floor, playing with toys? While walking around? This is an important piece to establish and create a successful mealtime routine.
Having meals and snacks served at a designated table or highchair can help your child focus on eating, versus the various distractions that occur when eating elsewhere. Even if your child does not eat the meal that you are serving, sitting at the table allows them to participate in the social aspects of eating together. This also allows for modeling, and they can see you eat the food that they may not be comfortable trying yet!
This is not to say that kids should never eat somewhere else, but when trying to focus on helping your picky eater, being as consistent with this as possible can make a huge difference. ❤️
