I’ve talked about incorporating language and communication during meals, snacks, and cooking. This placemat can encourage just that!

Here are a few ideas:

🍉 Fruits: What are the different fruits you see? What other fruits can you name?

🥕 Vegetables: What are the different vegetables you see? What other vegetables can you name?

🎨 Color naming and identification.

🔤 Letter names and letter sounds: Naming foods that begin with that letter.

🔢 Counting fruits/vegetables

📝 Come up with a sentence starting with the letter you name. Come up with a sentence using the fruit or vegetable you name. Describe the fruit or vegetable.
